Optimize your site for TV and Projector Screens

With the release of Internet Explorer for XBOX Live members just a few weeks ago, we have yet another optimization challenge, the big screen. By now, many of us have master the mobile web optimization techniques, the kind where we're constrained to inches and centimeters. Now, with LED screens and high-def projectors at lower-than-ever prices, we need to learn a whole new set of tricks, and start thinking about device size in feet and meters! With millions of these products being purchased on Black Friday, just a month after Microsoft released it's XBOX browser, it's more important than ever to consider these larger screen sizes.

I have an 11ft. screen with a 720p Sony Bravia projector at home. Typically, we use it for movies and video games, but just yesterday, I decided to load my own blog in the XBOX Live Internet Explorer. After spending an hour or so surfing around, I came to some conclusions:

 

Okay, those may be good tips, by how do you conditionally implement them on an XBOX IE browser? Well, there appears to be only one way at this point. Since the TV media type isn't support within CSS media queries, the only way I can think of is to turn to the server side:
